DO YOU LOOK AFTER YOUR POOJA ROOM

Pooja room is decorated with pure simplicity
Mumbai (OR)As the festival of lights and Goddess Laxmi has recently passed, all the Hindu  would have decorated their Pooja rooms. Those who deal in the realty sector would tell you that while buying their new homes, buyers ask the builder or his marketing guys that as to where they should set up their home temple. Those houses with nice place to
set up temple has a better chance to impress the would be buyer.
Said Sanjay Khanna, director,Kailashnath projects Pvt.Limited, “ We have been observing since long that their buyers demand that we make dedicated space for pooja room. Our customers also give us lot of suggestions as o how we make pooja rooms. They (customers) told us that we make pooja rooms east facing.”
You would find in almost all the Indian Hindu Homes, a separate room is kept for ” pooja ” or praying. This room is called the “Pooja Room” and in this room, the deities and God’s idols are kept. Pooja rooms are decorated with these idols in silver or chrome frames, with lots of flowers and miniature jewelry or simply idols are painted in beautiful colours and are made of clay. In addition to the idols, there are many items kept for worshipping in the pooja room. The pooja room is also used by some for meditation. Even if there a space constraint in the house in any Indian Home, a small space, anywhere in the house is reserved to perform all kind of traditional rituals and pooja.
A typical Pooja room is decorated with pure simplicity.
According to a Vaastu expert,“ Apart from on the east facing, the room of the god should be painted in earthy colors and should also have a wooden door. It could be a grand one with ornamentation or a simple one with minimum ethnic touches depending upon the status of an individual.” These days, due to lack of space, there is portable mandir in every house. The mandirs are even made of whitewood, combination of wood and silver, depending upon individual choice andaffordability to buy a particular individual.
Countries like India have traditional craftsmen who design the Pooja mandir and carve them by hand without using any machines. These are called ‘wooden handicrafts’. Traditionally ‘ Rangoli’ is put in front of the mandir, in mostly all the southern part of India.
Nazma Alim, marketing director of ILD, reveals that even many companies also see to it that when they either buy or take commercial space on rent then it must have some small space for mandir. “ In our ILD Trade Centre in Gurgaon, we have carved out nice space for pooja rooms for our all those clients who asked for it. We have to follow the instructions of our clients.”
Quoting Vaastu Shastra, noted scholar of Hinduism, Mr.B.N.Pathak said that the ideal place for keeping the Pooja Room is the North-east.This direction is associated with prosperity, peace of mind, wealth and happiness.
Normally, the Pooja room is decorated with lightweight idols or
pictures by believers of Vaastu Shastra. We get lovely miniature
garlands in small colorful beads, pearls, or flowers made out of
cloth. Pooja room door small see-through sections where tiny brass bells are attached. These bells produce beautiful melody when the door is opened or closed.
Are all the realty firms provide pooja rooms to their customers ? “Of course,” says Anu Gupta adding, “ People from Gujarat and South are very particular for their pooja room or space for pooja. They reject the house if they do not get house with nice space for pooja room.
North Indians are not that particular but they too create space for pooja in any case.”  More often than not you would find sacrosanct place where the family deity and gods are housed in a Hindu household. The worshipper sets the pooja ingredients meticulously to his/her satisfaction. It is also
good to have a personal nook for praying or meditating.Assign a room or a fixed place (preferably a secluded corner) for worship in your house.
Procure the idol of the deity and place it on a raised platform, say a low stool covered with a clean piece of cloth or else, place it in a
wooden/brass shrine.
Get an incense container to keep the incense sticks in; a stand to set the sticks on and a matchbox to light them.
Get these utensils – a small plate on which to serve sweets before the deity; a glass for serving water; a medium sized plate for keeping the flowers on before offering; small pots and urns if needed.
Place small earthen or brass lamps (diyas) with oil and cotton wicks in front of the deity. There are no firm rules regarding the setup of the puja room. Complete
devotion is what is needed. Noted scholar of Hinduism,
Mr.B.N.Pathak feels that one of the most important factors where every Hindu family puts more concentration while setting up house is pooja mandir. Pooja mandir is the place where every Hindu believes God resides. Hence it is must to keep pooja mandir attractive and attentive. Several materials are used for making pooja mandir. But pooja mandirs made out of wood enjoys a good status because of its beauty and perfection.
According to Sunil Jindal,CEO of SVP developers, now people are also making wooden temples in their homes. It enhances the beauty of house.
“ We have observed that even young buyers also look for pooja rooms when they visit our sample flats before sealing the deal. One thing is very sure that you can not ignore this very aspect if you want to survive in the realty market.”
According to Pt.Shashi Pande, “Pooja temple is the place where before every Hindu stands with bowed head. Mandir in the house unites all the members and is the place where every member stands when they feel sad, happy or alone. Pooja mandir made out of wood gives the real divine
effect to your prayer place. Pooja mandir should be kept quite serene.
Your prayer place or pooja mandir is entirely different from other
rooms. It is the place where dedication and devotion comes together.Meanwhile, the present generation shows uncontrollable love towards wood pooja mandirs. There are several factors which made wood pooja mandir a hot pick of almost all Hindu families. The most important factors are no doubt cost and beauty. You can get beautiful wood pooja mandir in different styles and models at affordable rates. There is no
need for you to break your bank account to get wooden temple home to place your God or Goddesses.
Wooden pooja mandir makes your pooja room to look like a temple. It serves you with the same heart-felt devotional feeling which you experience in temples. Wood pooja mandir is more attractive and durable compared to others and carries a unique look. Pooja mandir made out of wood holds exclusive racks and spaces to keep your pooja equipments.
And if your pooja room is ready, then be sure that Goddess of Laxmi would bless you and your family.
